Galega officinalis is an herbaceous perennial plant that grows at fast rate to growing up to 1.2 m in height and 0.8 m in wide. It has multi stems which are quite glabrous.
Leaves are alternate and long-stalked. Blade pinnate, in 3–9 pairs, with terminal leaflet. Leaflets ovate–lanceolate, often sharp-pointed, with entire margins. Flowers have white–light purple and blue veined. Flowers are 10–15 mm long and have 5 petals. The fruit is cylindrical, glabrous, many seeds, quite erect pod (legume).
