Common St. Johnswort is a multi-stemmed, perennial herb that grows to 30 – 90 cm.
It has long slender stems growing at the soil surface or just below the ground. It also has aggressive rhizomes.
Leaves are ovate or linear up to 3 cm long.
Numerous flowers (roughly 25–100 per stem) are symmetrical around a central point, determinate, in flat-top clusters.
